Job Summary:
We are seeking a full-time construction and real estate attorney to join our team. The Assistant General Counsel will manage all legal aspects of A Food & Beverage Manufacturing Company's construction and real estate activities to further our growing business. The role entails close collaboration with internal stakeholders, including senior management, construction managers, and other members of our construction team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of construction, real estate, and commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on contract matters, including risk assessments and risk mitigation strategies
  • Stay abreast of industry developments and regulatory changes related to construction, real estate, and commercial contracts, and advise internal stakeholders accordingly
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support various business initiatives and projects
  • Coordinate and assist with due diligence for real estate transactions
  • Assist in the resolution of construction-related disputes, including claims, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as mediation and arbitration
  • Assist with other commercial contracts
  • Provide training and educational resources to internal stakeholders on relevant legal topics, including construction, real estate, and contract law
  • Any other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of American Institute of Architects (AIA) contracts
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to provide practical and business-oriented legal advice while mitigating legal risks

Education and Experience:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school
  • Admission to at least one state bar
  • Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, with a focus on construction and real estate law
  • Experience providing legal services in both law-firm and in-house environments
  • Experience managing complex construction and real estate contracts
  • Experience working in related industries, including agriculture, technology, or construction management
