Description:

As the Vice President Legal, Compliance and Governmental Affairs your responsibility is to strategically plan, direct, and oversee the organization's Legal, Compliance and Governmental Affairs functions, including serving as the Company's principal compliance officer. Formulates strategy and approves operational processes and procedures.

You will do this by:
  • Overseeing the day-to-day activities of and strategic and long-term planning for the Legal, Compliance and Governmental Affairs functions, including as to litigation, intellectual property, employment, general contracting, trade compliance and lobbying matters.
  • Interacting regularly with executives, major customers and suppliers and regulators on highly visible activities such as negotiations with customers or suppliers, or influencing legislators or other executives.
  • Reporting directly to the Board of Directors on the Integrity Program and other matters related to compliance and chairs the Integrity Program Committee reporting directly to the CEO.
  • Representing the organization in relationships with customers, vendors, consultants, legal counsel, governmental representatives and the general public.
  • Leading governmental affairs on behalf of the Company and, in connection therewith, liaises directly with the Company's CEO and its outside lobbying firm and relevant trade associations
  • Ensuring the Company's compliance with all government regulations including required licensing, certifications, training and reporting to outside agencies related to assigned legal areas.
  • Overseeing records management and retention, including setting policies and advising the business and functions in connection therewith.
  • Analyzing and working proactively to anticipate and continuously improve legal, compliance, and governmental affairs practices in conjunction with other organization efforts; assesses and continuously improves department's effectiveness to ensure business units' needs are met
  • Performing a full range of managerial responsibilities, including coaching and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; performance management; development and implementation of processes, practices and systems in assigned areas of responsibility; and budgeting for assigned areas
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor Degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
  • Admitted to practice law in the State of Wisconsin or another state
  • 10+ years of broad based legal experience, including experience in designated legal practice area(s) in a firm or corporate setting
  • Prior leadership & management experience in a large, complex global organization
  • Experience preparing legal documents and contracts, conveying complex legal concepts, negotiating agreements, and building relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience forecasting, developing and managing budgets
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organization

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working within the manufacturing industry
  • Experience working with Google Workspace

Travel Required:
  • Up to 10% annual travel within the United States
