Job Overview:
As the Staff Counsel assigned to A Passenger Car Distributor Company, you will play a crucial role in providing strategic guidance and support on legal aspects relating to electric vehicle (EV) charging, implementing EV charging strategy, nationwide rollout of EV charging station infrastructure, commercial real estate leasing, joint ventures, solar power generation and obtaining state grants for green projects. You will work closely with the leadership team to help navigate the legal complexities in the rapidly evolving EV charging industry.

Responsibilities:
  • Legal Strategy and Compliance: Develop and execute legal strategies aligned with the organization's goals, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations including those applicable to the EV charging industry.
  • Contract Management: Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of a variety of contracts, including but not limited to vendor agreements, partnership agreements, supplier agreements, non-EV contracts, commercial regulatory and compliance documents and customer agreements. Particular emphasis in areas of real estate contracting.
  • Regulatory Affairs: Stay abreast of evolving regulations and legislation impacting the EV charging industry. Provide guidance on compliance and engage with regulatory bodies as necessary. Assist with issues arising out of federal and state examinations and assist in formulating responses to federal and state regulatory authorities and other regulatory inquiries.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify legal risks and implement proactive measures to mitigate potential issues including data and privacy considerations. Work closely with internal teams to ensure legal considerations are integrated into business decisions.
  • Intellectual Property: Manage and protect the organization's intellectual property portfolio. Collaborate with external counsel as needed for trademark and patent matters.
  • Dispute Resolution: Handle legal disputes and engage external counsel when necessary. Work towards amicable resolutions and represent the organization's interests. Assist the business line with responses to customer complaints and threatened litigation matters. Assist the business line as needed on offensive/collections litigation and outside counsel management.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of company policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with legal requirements.
  • Organization Coordination: Be a leader in collaborating effectively across the organization including across other internal A Passenger Car Distributor Company and Teams in the United States and internationally.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in any state.
  • 5+ years of legal experience, with a focus on corporate and commercial law, joint ventures, consumer finance; experience in the EV, automobile, or clean energy industry preferred
  • Experience in regulatory compliance and navigating legal complexities in a dynamic business environment
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across teams and levels
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively and navigating competing priorities in a fast-paced, complex environment
