 An In House Firm North America, a group company of Daifuku in Japan - the largest material handling company in the world. Our advanced systems move everything from car bodies at auto plants to luggage at airports to packaged goods at warehouses. We are known as experts in engineering, manufacturing, and servicing innovative automated materials handling systems including conveyors, automatic guided vehicles, automated storage & retrieval systems, and integrated controls.

The company is currently seeking an Associate General Counsel.

Responsibilities:
 An In House Firm is seeking another attorney for its Legal Department to work closely with the Company's General Counsel. The attorney will be working as part of a global corporation. It will be a commercial generalist role requiring the attorney to help support the Company's commercial operations. The attorney will have to wear multiple hats, balance a diverse workload and provide advice on many different areas of law.

Major Areas of Responsibility:
  • Commercial Oversight: Provide advice and oversight to  An In House Firm's contract management and project management personnel.
  • Corporate Governance Matters:  An In House Firm has a corporate structure that includes multiple subsidiaries.
  • Employment Law and Other Litigation– on average,  An In House Firm has 20+ lawsuits or administrative actions pending.
  • Intellectual Property Issues: several of the subsidiary companies have patents and trademarks in multiple countries.
  • Environmental Issues: Associated with multiple factories and industrial sites.

Knowledge:
English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Education & Experience:
  • Minimum of 5+ years of legal experience - ideally has worked at both a large law firm and in-house at a large corporation.
  • Strong corporate law skills & knowledge including corporate housekeeping requirements as well as demonstrated experience negotiating large commercial agreements.
  • Experience advising on a broad mix of legal issues such as employment disputes or environmental issues.
  • Admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan or, eligible to waive in from another State Bar.
  • Excellent academic credentials.

Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other office machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.
