As A Global Leader of Connected Public Safety Technologies Company's Sr. Corporate Counsel, you will manage an all-star team of contracts managers and attorneys that supports the Sales teams and acts as the primary Legal support on review and negotiation of commercial sales transactions in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Central and South America, as well as global distributor and reseller arrangements. In addition to Sales, you will join forces with members of other business teams such as Finance, Supply Chain, Software and Hardware Engineering, Product and IT to structure, negotiate and execute complex transactions across government, enterprise, and consumer sectors, as well as train A Global Leader of Connected Public Safety Technologies Company's growing sales force in best contracting practices and engagement of the Legal team. You will aim far by designing, building, and implementing processes to help scale with a rapidly growing business.

What You'll Do:
Location: Remotely from United States

Reports to: Assistant General Counsel
  • Lead, develop and manage a growing 7-person team comprised of contracts managers and attorneys supporting sales of A Global Leader of Connected Public Safety Technologies Company's market-leading portfolio of public safety technology products primarily to state and local governments, national governments, and private entities in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Central and South America.
  • Manage workflow and bandwidth across your team to meet internal and external customers' needs, including coordinating with Sales to understand strategy and priorities.
  • Set and enforce the risk levels acceptable to A Global Leader of Connected Public Safety Technologies Company through approvals and ownership of the knowledge bank and playbooks.
  • Provide legal advice to global business partners (primarily including a growing and dynamic Sales organization) on transactional matters related structuring, reviewing and negotiating contracts for the disposition of A Global Leader of Connected Public Safety Technologies Company's goods, services and SaaS solutions, as well as providing and recommending options for business partners with respect to contract negotiations and corresponding risk analyses.
  • Lead, support, execute and evolve team processes to help us build Legal contracting support for scale, including, for example:
    • drafting, updating and maintaining template contract language, risk analyses, and policies and procedures; and
    • supporting and championing the development and implementation of our contract lifecycle management system
  • Provide other legal advice as needed related to A Global Leader of Connected Public Safety Technologies Company's operations, including, for example, regulatory compliance matters or other legal requirements, industry standards, and global entity management.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, contracts managers and administrative support to help grow, mentor and learn from others.
  • Manage company records to ensure legal and policy compliance.

What you bring:
  • J.D. and member in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience (in-house preferred) managing complex commercial transactions.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage highly fluid workload throughout any given day by seamlessly coordinating work across the team as well as communicating and supporting evolving priorities.
  • Ability to close deals by finding creative solutions to manage A Global Leader of Connected Public Safety Technologies Company's risk.
  • Ability to structure, draft, and negotiate a high volume of commercial contracts, including those for the sale of SaaS, hardware, and services.
  • Experience negotiating intellectual property licensing and ownership agreements.
  • Experience negotiating international agreements.
  • Pass-first attitude with a desire to train and mentor others.
  • Experience supporting large and dynamic organizations.
  • Passion for process and organization.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and administering contract lifecycle processes.
  • Deep understanding of other software tools surrounding the contract process, preferably SalesForce, CLMs, and Microsoft Office.
