About the role:
We are looking for a Regional Counsel, Americas to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the primary legal advisor to A Materials Science Company business groups based in the United States, as well as serve as the legal advisor to A Materials Science Company commercial operations in North and South America. This role will handle a wide variety of complex legal projects and provide advice and counsel to several members of A Materials Science Company senior business leadership. This role will also lead a team of legal professionals who support A Materials Science Company commercial sales operations in the United States.

This position offers multiple work arrangements: on-site at our facility in Flagstaff, Arizona, hybrid or fully remote work allowed in most locations within the United States, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary legal advisor to the Americas region, coordinating advice and counsel with other subject matter groups within the A Materials Science Company Legal, Compliance and Data Privacy organization
  • Provide strategic guidance to the Americas business on marketing, sales and distribution practices throughout the Americas region by partnering closely with business leaders, including senior commercial leadership
  • Negotiate, draft and interpret significant contracts with A Materials Science Company business partners, including customers, Group Purchasing Organizations, distributors and strategic partners
  • Educate and train commercial Associates on a wide variety of laws and regulations relevant to A Materials Science Company business in the Americas region
  • Lead the U.S. Sales Contract Professional team
  • Create an environment of continuous improvement and efficiency in the delivery of legal services to the Americas region
  • Oversee the selection and management of external counsel, alternative legal service providers and other consultants, as required
  • Establish clear expectations of equitable and inclusive behaviors from Associates and acts immediately to appropriately address negatively impactful or unfair behavior

Required Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, and have been admitted to at least one state bar jurisdiction (AZ preferred, but not required)
  • Minimum of 7 years legal experience required, with a strong preference for candidates with significant work experience in-house with a Medical Device company
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining an inclusive work environment with clear understanding of equitable practices
  • Significant knowledge of health care and medical device laws and regulations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially in explaining complex laws, regulations, and legal risks to business clients
  • Ability to drive results and balance management of legal risk while meeting business objectives, both individually and through the leadership of legal and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions, as well as integration, in the Medical Device industry
  • Professional speaking and writing capacity in Spanish and/or Portuguese
