Job Overview:
The position is responsible for handling company complaints, litigation management, general legal support for the business and miscellaneous legal/compliance projects.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Drafts and handles responses to consumer complaints, including drafting responses, researching, organizing and collecting information related to consumer complaints.
  • Manage litigation, including managing performance of outside counsel, review outside counsel invoices for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Reviews recommendations from outside counsel to develop and implement strategies on pre-litigation and litigation matters.
  • Reviews settlement offers and makes recommendations to accept or deny the offer.
  • General legal support, including assistance with contract drafting and preparing formal notices and letters related to company's agreements.
  • Provides support to company's Direct to Consumer channel and Privacy/Data Security team with specific focus on emerging privacy laws and telemarketing regulations.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of A Protection Products Platform consumer products (all), organizational structure, reporting relationships, business practices, and policies & procedures.
  • Assist with other legal and compliance duties and/or projects including but not limited to matters related to compliance, operations, privacy, audit and legal research.
  • Proactively identify and address areas for improvement.

Job Requirements:
  • JD degree from accredited law school.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience.
  • Related industry legal/compliance experience strongly preferred. Related industries include experience working with our direct competitors, Automotive F&I industry, home warranties, consumer goods service contracts or insurance industry.
  • Deep technical knowledge of service contracts, debt cancellation agreements, vehicle protection products, motor club products, and insurance products, processes and services preferred.
  • Experience in telemarketing and privacy related regulations a plus.
  • Strong leadership, project management and relationship management skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, database applications and document management software.
  • Detail oriented, organized and patient individual.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to do compliance research.
  • Proficiency with software, including Nils, Serff, Westlaw, ODEN and internet research.
  • Experience working with the state and federal legal and regulatory agencies a plus.
  • Experience in legislative review, analysis and reporting preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S
