Primary Responsibilities:
  • Working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Collaborating with clients to develop strategies designed to meet specific goals
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney and healthcare directives
  • Conducting legal research on estate planning laws, regulations, and precedents
  • Counseling clients on wealth preservation, tax planning and asset protection strategies
  • Assisting with probate and estate administration processes
  • Representing clients in negotiations, mediations or court proceedings related to estate matters
  • Business development, including professional organization involvement and writing.
  • Supervising paralegals, staff, and team members as your role progresses.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Successful passing of the bar exam
  • Active member in good standing of the Bar or currently eligible to become licensed, to practice law in Iowa.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in estate planning, including drafting wills, trusts and other estate planning documents, as well as advising clients on estate and trust administration matters.
  • Strong work ethic, drive, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a small team environment.

Preferred Experience:
  • 3-7+ years of specific estate planning experience.
  • Excellent academic and professional credentials.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
