A Solar Energy Solutions Company is seeking an experienced and commercially minded renewable energy construction attorney to join our Legal team as an EPC Attorney. Members of our Legal team are true business partners providing the legal expertise needed to build grid-scale solar and storage projects throughout the United States. The EPC Attorney will provide legal and transactional support to all phases of our business, including contracting, pre-construction, execution, and dispute resolution.

This position can be remote and will report to the Deputy General Counsel.

What You'll Do:
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage EPC agreements, subcontracts, procurement agreements, NDAs, and related agreements.
  • Assist business and project management teams in managing all aspects of utility-scale solar and storage projects.
  • Proactively manage risk across the construction portfolio, guiding construction teams in risk mitigation techniques, drafting notices, and solving dynamic issues in real-time.
  • Train project teams to understand, implement, and enforce contractual requirements.
  • Advise and assist with construction, contractual claims, and disputes with owners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Control the flow down of key provisions in financing and EPC agreements into procurement agreements and subcontracts.
  • Assist project teams to ensure appropriate subcontracting requirements are met and issues are resolved.

Must-Haves:
  • 3+ years of EPC experience in the energy industry, preferably in solar or renewable energy.
  • Substantial transactional experience in a law firm and/or in-house at an energy or construction company.
  • Demonstrated success in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating utility-scale solar and storage contracts.
  • Commitment to ethics, integrity, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to dispassionately manage conflict and mitigate risk.
  • Ability to work independently, lead negotiations, raise issues, and propose solutions for the broader team.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with renewable energy project finance transactions.
  • Experience working with investor-owned utilities and 3rd party EPC customers.

  • Proactive approach, self-starter, takes initiative.

Education and Certifications:
  • A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school is required.
  • An active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction is required.
