Job Summary:
A Largest Financial Services Holding Company's Legal and Government Relations Department is seeking an attorney with strong academic credentials and professional experience capable of providing legal advice and business guidance on a variety of legal, regulatory, and compliance matters. This attorney will support the Wealth Management and Trust operations of A Largest Financial Services Holding Company as well as other areas of the bank.

Job Location:
We are an in-office working environment. The members of our Legal and Government Relations Department are primarily located in our Chicago (near O'Hare Airport) and Evansville, Indiana offices. Our preference is for the attorney to be located in one of these two offices. Other potential office locations where this attorney may be located include A Largest Financial Services Holding Company offices in cities inside our primary footprint are possible (Indianapolis, Milwaukee and Minneapolis). This position's manager is located at the Chicago office.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience practicing law
  • Admitted and in good standing in at least one bar of the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota or Wisconsin
  • Prior experience at a major law firm, in-house legal department of a financial institution and/or bank regulatory agency
  • Ability to apply sound and practical business judgment to legal matters
  • Ability to consult with and advise management at all levels
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

Desired Experience:
  • Knowledge of fiduciary and securities laws and regulations supporting the wealth management and trust functions of a bank and/or registered investment advisor
  • Knowledge of banking laws and regulations, especially consumer laws and regulations, supporting risk and compliance functions within a bank
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory agency rules and regulations essential to this position (e.g., OCC, FRB, CFPB, and FINRA). Experience working with the SEC in connection with registered investment advisors also is desirable.
  • Knowledge of trust agreements, investment advisory agreements, and related ancillary documents used by wealth management, investment advisory or trust functions of a bank

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Primarily support the wealth management, investment advisory, and trust divisions and subsidiaries of A Largest Financial Services Holding Company, but also support other areas of the bank as needed
  • Provide legal advice on the Investment Advisers Act, Regulation R, fiduciary activities of national banks, and OCC requirements for retail non-deposit investment products
  • Provide legal advice regarding the creation, revision, and/or maintenance of client-facing agreements and internally used forms
  • Advise on regulatory and compliance matters relating to general bank operations as well as existing and new bank products and services.
