A Fast-Paced Organization is seeking a Civil Municipal Attorney with strong experience working on behalf of Minnesota communities.What You'll Do:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Advise city leaders on matters related to ethics, personnel, ordinances, contracts, land use, taxes, and finance
- Stay informed on changes to local, state, and federal laws that impact the municipalities
- Draft city ordinances and contracts
- Review all contracts and memoranda to ensure that the city's legal interests are not compromised
- Attend city council meetings – travel to and attend night meetings
- Attend city meetings – travel to and attend meetings with city staff as requested throughout the week
- Respond to clients in a timely manner- either via phone, email or in person respond within the same working day
- Facilitate real estate development and related document drafting
- Pursue or respond to litigation on behalf of a city, including advocacy in court
Qualifications:
- Must be admitted to practice law in Minnesota and in good standing.
- At least 3-5 years' experience in municipal representation or equivalent relevant experience is preferred.
- Ability to be highly collaborative and enjoy cross-practice-area camaraderie.
