The Opportunity:
This is a new role in A Software Development Company. We are looking for a motivated, self-starter to join us to take on a broad range of responsibilities and make a big impact on our growth in the govtech industry. Reporting to our EVP, Legal and Government Affairs, you'll make an immediate impact through sound business judgment and ability to translate business concepts to clear, legal drafting to protect the business and achieve business goals. Candidate can be located in Alpharetta, Georgia; Jacksonville, Florida or remote within the US.

What you will do:
  • Review, draft and negotiate a broad range of agreements for government clients, vendors, and partnerships.
  • Negotiate, support, including second-line assistance to sales, marketing, product center, and other functional roles, as well as direct engagement with decision-makers.
  • Develop and improve best practices policies to insulate A Software Development Company from risk and liability.
  • Collaborate with others and/or work independently to provide legal support for internal and customer-facing projects.
  • Maintain and update existing templates and contracting processes.
  • Design, build, and improve legal and contract team processes.
  • Additional areas of focus may include HR & employment, data protection and privacy, litigation support, or more depending on interest, expertise, and company need.
  • Other generalist tasks will be assigned as needed.

Requirements:
What you will need to succeed:
  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Bar membership in at least one state in good standing
  • 2-3 years of prior experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, preferably in the area of software technology, government or government procurement
  • Strong business acumen and practical problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to influence others without direct line management oversight
  • Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of how legal terms translate to business impact
  • Excellent business judgment and the ability to work closely with a variety of businesses and personnel to provide timely service.
