Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Must have a Law degree from an accredited college or university. One year of progressively complex and responsible related work experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience in order to provide quality legal representation and assistance to City staff.

Licenses and Certifications:
Admission to Oklahoma State Bar no later than April 30, 2024 and must be eligible for admission to practice law in Federal Court. Maintain current memberships in the Oklahoma Bar As-sociation and the American Bar Association including Continuing Legal Education requirements.

Knowledge:
Municipal, state and federal law effecting city governments. Judicial procedures in all applicable courts. Methods and techniques of legal research, analysis and report presentation.

Skills:
Preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials. Public speaking and persuasion. An advanced level of interpersonal skills necessary in order to develop cooperative working relationships with employees, senior management, and elected and judicial officials.

Mental Abilities:
Ability to analyze complex legal and/or administrative problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.

Additional Information:
Applicant must provide writing sample. Selected applicant must pass background investigation and drug screen.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
A general legal practice in the areas of civil litigation, municipal court prosecution, ad-ministrative proceedings, preparation and review of contracts, and resolutions, ordinances and other legal documents. Research and provide recommendations related to City Council areas of priority. Researches and provides opinions and training to City staff, members of City boards and commissions, and elected officials on legal matters pertaining to the City. Performs other legal research, prepares drafts of pleadings, and performs general legal assistance to other staff attorneys assigned to specific cases or topics. Attends City committee and City Council meetings as needed.

Examples of Other Major Responsibilities:
Maintains and upgrades professional knowledge, skills, and development by attending seminars and training programs and reading trade and professional journals and publications. Performs special assignments as requested, to include researching and preparing reports and projects, developing and implementing programs, and presenting legal information to management, elected officials, and others.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts.
