Description:

A Public School invites applications for a full-time Visiting Professor of Legal Writing for both semesters of the 2024-2025 academic year. The Visiting Professor will teach two sections of the first-year Legal Analysis and Writing (LAW) course, which is a full-year course, bearing 2 credits each semester. The law school anticipates enrolling roughly 20 students in each section. While LAW faculty agree on a broad framework and goals for the course, each professor retains substantial discretion in choice of assignments and methods of instruction.

The visitor will be encouraged to participate in the intellectual life of Pitt Law. Of particular interest may be the School's program on Fostering Resilience and Engagement in Law Students (https://www.law.pitt.edu/about/fostering-resilience-and-engagement-law-students), which is led by members of our Legal Writing faculty.

The position begins in July 2024. The search will continue until a Visiting Professor is hired. Candidates are encouraged to apply early.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a J.D. degree from an accredited law school and distinguished academic or professional credentials. Experience teaching legal writing in a law school is preferred.
