We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Vice President to oversee legal matters and ensure compliance within our real estate operations, with a primary focus on leasing activities. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert legal guidance on office and retail leasing, commercial development, and asset management transactions. Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of compliance activities, including complaints received and investigation outcomes.
  • Collaborate with human resources departments to ensure consistent disciplinary action strategies for compliance standard violations.
  • Advise internal management or business partners on the development and execution of compliance programs.
  • File appropriate compliance reports with regulatory agencies and report violations to enforcement agencies as required.
  • Provide assistance to internal or external auditors during compliance reviews.
  • Prepare detailed management reports on compliance operations and progress.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of compliance systems to ensure their efficiency.
  • Identify and address emerging compliance issues requiring follow-up or investigation.
  • Disseminate written policies and procedures related to compliance activities.
  • Design and implement improvements in communication, monitoring, or enforcement of compliance standards.
  • Conduct or direct periodic internal reviews, audits, and investigations of compliance issues.
  • Ensure all regulatory policies and procedures are documented, implemented, and communicated.
  • Stay informed about pending industry changes, trends, or best practices.
  • Direct the development or implementation of policies and procedures related to compliance organization-wide.
  • Provide legal advice concerning the ownership and operation of mixed-use real estate assets, with a focus on office and retail leasing.
  • Serve as primary corporate counsel for commercial development and asset management transactional issues.
  • Support operations on rezoning and development projects, including drafting and negotiating various agreements with third parties.
  • Partner with internal clients to provide timely guidance to meet business objectives.
  • Engage and supervise outside counsel, managing billing processes efficiently.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • JD Degree Required
  • 5-12+ years of experience in real estate transactional work
  • Project finance experience a plus
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office/Suite, and any other software program identified as standard
  • Ability to effectively select and supervise outside counsel
  • Must be highly credible and trustworthy, and operate with high degree of integrity
