Job Summary:
Responsible for the competent, ethical, and diligent representation of clients in all assigned cases. Capable of handling those matters with the greatest complexity levels and/or exposure levels. Responsible for providing assistance to the Managing Attorney in the supervision of other attorneys in the office and in the performance of other delegated administrative duties.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Makes all case assignments to attorneys supervised assuring exposure level and/or complexity of cases matches skill and expertise levels of attorneys.
  • Trains attorneys and others as needed to improve their level of expertise.
  • Performs managerial and administrative tasks, and special assignments, as as signed by Managing Attorney.
  • Informs managing attorney of any and all case activity problems encountered.
  • Supervises maintenance of computerized litigation support systems.
  • Prepares and submits reports as required by the managing attorney.
  • Consults with and renders opinions to the Claims Department regarding insurance policy questions and questions concerning the legal aspects of the handling of personal injury claims.
  • Supervises cases as assigned and handles those of greatest complexity and/or exposure, including preparation of pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs, attendance at hearings, conferences, interviews, and trials or arbitrations, and performance of any other tasks or duties necessary for the proper representation of clients.
  • Functionally supervises attorneys who have been requested to assist Supervising Attorney in the handling of particular cases.
  • Performs other functions as assigned.

Physical Environment:
This role, whether performed virtually or in an office setting, operates in an open office working environment which will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions. Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required. law school degree and member in good standing of the State Bar in the state in which position is located.

Experience Requirements:
At least two years as a Senior Trial Attorney, or comparable outside experience and capable of handling cases of greatest exposure and/or complexity with minimum supervision. Must have some management experience or demonstrated management aptitude.
