What You'll Do:
We are seeking a mid- to senior-level commercial real estate transactions attorney to join our team. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated experience in transactional real estate including acquisitions, management, and development in progressively more responsible roles. This role serves as the legal lead to crucial operational portions of our business and handles a wide range of real estate related legal matters.

Having an understanding of corporate law and compliance is preferred, as well as a demonstrated ability to work with and manage outside counsel. This role may also be involved in other legal projects from time to time as needed. This role reports to the VP, Associate General Counsel. Examples of other duties and responsibilities for this role include the following:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts and agreements including acquisitions and dispositions, and commercial contracts.
  • Serve as legal lead and also provide support for real estate acquisitions and dispositions and other strategic transactions, including working with the business teams on REAs, easements, lease related issues, takings, strategic transactions and other legal issues that arise in the day to day operation and management of commercial retail real estate.
  • Assist business teams with their day-to-day legal needs related to their areas of responsibility.
  • Promote legal, compliance and risk management best practice throughout the company.
  • Assist the Associate General Counsel with the oversight of litigation matters (e.g., ADA lawsuits, contract disputes etc.).
  • Assist with compliance matters, including the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures, risk assessments, and management of compliance issues.
  • Stay up to date on changes to laws and regulations that may impact the Company.

What We're Looking For:
  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-approved law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Active Member in good standing with at least one state bar.
  • Minimum of 6-10 years of significant corporate transactional experience, preferably with a law firm, experience with litigation, corporate law and working with public companies are a plus.
  • Attention to detail and excellent legal drafting skills are a must.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong time management, prioritization and problem-solving skills are also essential.
