Summary:
The Senior Counsel - Global Compliance Investigations Leader is responsible for leading the Compliance Investigations Center of Excellence (COE”), which conducts investigations into alleged violations of law or GE Policy. This critical role will lead a globally dispersed team in close collaboration with business partners, Compliance and the Legal function. This role is critical to the planning and implementation of GE Aerospace's Compliance Program & policies.

The Investigations Leader will ensure the COE's partnership with stakeholders in Legal, Compliance, HR and the Business to keep key stakeholders apprised of important developments, identify trends and risk mitigation strategies.

Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead team of globally dispersed lawyer and non-lawyer Compliance Investigation Specialists in the delivery of prompt, thorough & independent investigations into alleged violations of law or GE policies;
  • Support open reporting culture through ensuring confidentiality protection of concern-raisers and highlighting the positive contribution of concern-raiser to excellence within the organization;
  • Responsible for overseeing & directing investigations, ensuring that investigations are conducted in accordance with relevant laws and policies across the globe;
  • Personally plans and leads more complex and significant investigations, including coordinating with other internal and external resources;
  • Manage assignment of cases & investigative capacity, ensuring risk-based allocation of investigative resources;
  • Responsible for setting and driving the COE organizational strategy, including developing team knowledge & competencies through training and other development opportunities, building talent pipeline, building on knowledge bank / standard work, and managing & training part-time / overflow support network;
  • Own the key metrics/reporting requirements for investigations, and apply lean principles to drive process efficiencies;
  • Reviewing & approving investigation reports, ensuring high-quality written reports, which provide a clear and logical account of the allegations, investigative work performed, key findings and conclusions;
  • People leadership activities on a global, diverse, scale, including recruiting, development, performance management and compensation.
  • Drive connectivity between key stakeholders (Legal, Compliance, HR, Risk Focus/ Subject Matter Experts, and the Business) to identify and understand trends, analyze risks, and drive lasting and effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Know and understand all applicable legal and policy requirements pertaining to the conduct of investigations including in areas involving employee interviews, data privacy, labor and employment requirements, and more; monitor changes in such laws and policies and provide guidance to team with respect to such changes.

Basic Qualification/Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Law degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 7 years post admission experience
  • Available for business travel (up to 20%)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with corporate compliance, integrity investigations and audit functions
  • Other language skills highly appreciated
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
  • Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel skills
  • Established analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to digest large amounts of information and distill it into the essential elements
  • Highest personal integrity with demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and inspire trust
