Job Description:
The A Government Entity District Court is currently recruiting for a Research Attorney. This attorney will work primarily with a group of judges with civil dockets, providing independent analysis of briefs and memoranda submitted by litigants, preparing memoranda of law, drafting orders and opinions, and performing other work in support of the judges of this judicial district.

The Research Attorney duties include:
  • Study cases filed with the court; research questions of law presented; research and review statutes, regulations, legislative history, and case law by working primarily with a group of judges with both civil and criminal court dockets providing independent analysis of briefs and memoranda.
  • Prepare prehearing research memoranda based on case facts and law; draft legal memoranda and proposed decisions on motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, motions to suppress or similar documentation; responsible for professional and technical writing and court appropriateness of all documents.
  • Complete special projects assigned by Chief Judge working with court administration.

Job Requirements:
Law degree from an accredited university and admission to the bar in any state or a law school graduate who is eligible for the bar examination. Excellent research and writing skills are required.
