Description:
Position Summary:Senior Counsel who supports General Counsel in handling legal compliance and risk management matters. Coordinates with other Legal & Compliance Team Members to accomplish departmental objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advise company on various compliance matters, including adherence to various laws and company policies.
- Independently develop compliance policies, procedures, processes and systems.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and oversee compliance hotline monitoring.
- Conduct internal investigations and prepare internal investigation reports.
- Conduct various legal audits.
- Assist with business partner code of conduct compliance matters.
- Assist with governmental affairs compliance matters.
- Conduct legal training to educate Team Members on applicable laws.
- Prepare annual compliance report.
- Draft memoranda to General Counsel, company executives, and Team Members in response to Requests for Legal Services.
- Oversee company's e-discovery system.
- Track and report any compliance, risk management, or legal developments in laws that may affect company.
- Advise company on legal risk management matters, including mitigation of legal risk, and procurement of insurance.
- Assist company with crisis management plans.
- Always display exemplary ethical behavior, including: (1) being free of undue influence and conflicts of interest; (2) strictly complying with HMMA policies and procedures; (3) being honest, transparent, and accountable; (4) report all known illegal or unethical behavior; and (5) protecting confidential information.
- Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the General Counsel.
Qualifications & Preferences
Education:
- Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA-accredited Law School required.
- Excellent academic credentials (Top 30% of law school class preferred)
Related Experience:
6 - 10 years of job-related experience preferred
Skills/Knowledge:
MS Word/MS Excel/MS PowerPoint
Training/Certification:
- Georgia State Bar law license (required)
- Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional Certificate (preferred)
