What you'll do...
The Lead Counsel, Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) in Regulatory & Specialty Legal counsels these highly-regulated areas of the U.S. business at An American Multinational Retail Corporation. The Lead Counsel, ATF is a cross-functional role working closely with multiple stakeholder groups across the company, such as Compliance, Merchandising, and An American Multinational Retail Corporation Connect, to minimize regulatory and legal risk associated with the ATF business. This role will serve as subject matter expert on ATF legal issues. The role reports to the Senior Lead Counsel.

What You'll Do:
  • Take a holistic approach in identifying and mitigating regulatory risks associated with the sale of alcohol, tobacco, and firearm products
  • Provide legal advice to merchants, compliance, and operators on a wide range of alcohol and tobacco matters, including advertising, minimum pricing, returns, and third-party delivery.
  • Advise business leaders with respect to legal issues and risk management concerning the sale and delivery of alcohol and tobacco and the development and implementation of company policies
  • Work with multiple teams in various subject areas to set up processes that preserve regulatory compliance while also meeting business needs
  • Support the ATF compliance team to respond to changes in federal and state regulation regarding the sale of firearms and updating policies accordingly
  • Coordinate with senior legal, compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure compliance with policies
  • Prepare reports and presentations for leadership
  • Escalate concerns based on risk to the company and recommending a plan of action for resolution and risk mitigation
