We have an immediate opening for a Higher Education Regulatory and Accreditation Attorney with at least five years of experience preferred, including three years specialized in higher education regulatory matters. We will consider candidates for any of our offices including our virtual office, The Link. This position has the possibility of a reduced billable-hour requirement and flexible schedule.

The Higher Education Regulatory and Accreditation Attorney will play a vital role in advising and representing clients on complex regulatory matters within the higher education sector, including on Title IV, financial aid, accreditation, structural changes/changes in ownership (mergers & acquisitions), and general higher education compliance. The Higher Education Regulatory and Accreditation Attorney will contribute to the development of firm knowledge and educational resources related to higher education law.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience with Title IV, accreditation, and/or institutional structural changes/changes in ownership within the higher education landscape. Previous work with higher education regulatory agencies, accrediting agencies, and/or in-house at educational institutions is valued, and preferred experience includes work on matters related to privacy law (beyond FERPA), research, healthcare, consumer finance, student funding mechanisms, accreditor recognition requirements, or foreign school operations.

The firm is looking for individuals who enjoy working in a collaborative and team environment and who can independently manage projects, interface with clients on specific issues, and direct junior attorneys and paralegals. This role includes the potential for occasional travel to client meetings and conferences.

The ideal candidate will have excellent academic credentials, a commitment to the community, superior interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated record of working well under pressure. The candidate should demonstrate exceptional judgment, the ability to effectively handle multiple projects, excellent communication and writing abilities, and the ability to articulate legal strategies and courses of action. Candidates should have an active bar license in the state corresponding with the office to which they are applying or commit to obtaining one as soon as possible.
