Description:

A Private Jesuit Research University is a student-focused law center inspired by the Jesuit tradition of academic excellence, intellectual openness, and service to others.

The Office of Career Services at Loyola University Chicago School of Law works in partnership with the Law School Dean's Office to develop and implement comprehensive career services strategies, shared goals, and priorities. The office builds relationships to strengthen employment networks and opportunities for our students and alumni, and is dedicated to providing law students and alumni with the tools and resources necessary to engage in effective job search strategies.

The Director of Law Career Services reports to the Assistant Dean of Career Services and serves as a critical partner to the Assistant Dean in executing career services priorities and goals. In alignment with these priorities, the Director oversees the office's career counseling strategy, including serving as the internal face of the office with students, managing operations related to student programming, conducting programming assessment and evaluation, and participating in strategic planning.

The Director is a partner to the Assistant Dean in the development and execution of career advising services that maximize employment outcomes for all law students. Specific advising responsibilities include:
  • Advising and maximizing outcomes for an assigned cohort of students in all aspects of career development, including career paths in small, medium, and large law firms, corporate, non-profit, government, judicial clerkships, JD advantage, and public interest careers.
  • Educating students about the numerous ways to use a JD, LLM or MJ degree.
  • Assessing students' interests, aptitudes, and career goals to help them develop a career strategy.
  • Reviewing and revising application materials for JD, LLM, and MJ students and alumni.
  • Preparing JD, LLM and MJ students and alumni for job searches and interviews.

The Director also supports the office's annual and ad hoc data collection and reporting requirements by helping to gather and track employment outcomes, communicate regularly with graduates regarding outcomes, and compile reports.

The Director serves on committees, represents the office on committees, and performs other duties as assigned in support of the career services function and law school student experience.

The director backs up the Assistant Dean in their absence and is expected to have supervisory responsibilities, as established by the Assistant Dean and Associate Dean for Administration.
