Description:

Summary:
Provides legal counsel to the entire Corporation by researching and making recommendations based on federal and state statutes and exercising expertise in areas related to health care law in order to minimize organizational risk/liability and to protect the varying business interests of the Company and its various affiliated entities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides legal advice as may be necessary to ensure protection of the organization's legal rights and to ensure that overall operations comply with applicable laws, rules, regulations and advisory opinions.
  • Researches and prepares recommendations related to an array of issues.
  • Drafts, reviews, advises and, if requested, negotiates new and existing agreements for the A Hospital & Health Care Company system entities including such services agreements or leases as may be requested by the Senior Staff Attorney or Associate Coroporate Counsel.
  • Assists in interpreting existing or proposed legislation or regulations affecting any entity of the Corporation.
  • Reviews policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal laws, rules, regulations and advisory opinions.
  • Recommends the initiation of legal action or participates in the preparation of organization's defense of legal actions.
  • Completes assigned goals.

Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Education:
Minimum: JD (Juris Doctor) or equivalent degree from an accredited school of law.

Experience:
Preferred: 3 years experience in a health care setting and/or law practice working specifically with health care matters.

Minimum: 2 years experience in a health care setting and/or law practice working specifically with health care matters.

Licensure, Registration, Certification
Preferred: Admitted to Mississippi BAR

Minimum: ADMITTED TO ARKANSAS, MISSISSIPPI, OR TENNESSEE BAR
