Description:

The Conflicts Attorney will support the Legal Risk Management department in Chicago with the clearance of conflicts of interest for client matters. The Conflicts Attorney will interact directly with lawyers in the global offices of the firm to analyze and clear conflicts.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Review, identify and resolve potential ethical and business conflicts of interest issues with respect to clients, matters and new business and incoming lawyers
  • Follow up on conflicts clearance with all responsible parties handling new engagements
  • Conduct thorough reviews of conflicts of interest reports, resolving issues identified on a timely basis
  • Work closely with members of Conflicts and New Business Intake Departments
  • Investigate and resolve erroneous, incomplete or outdated data on conflicts reports
  • Coordinate search requests and communicate with attorneys across the Firm
  • Assist firm lawyers with engagement letters and waivers
  • Stay current on recent research and thinking on ethics and conflicts best practices and rules across jurisdictions in which the Firm has offices.
  • Undertake special projects as needed

Experience & Education:
  • U.S. law degree and law license in good standing status
  • 2+ years of related experience in conflicts preferred
  • Knowledge of the law of conflicts a plus
  • In absence of conflicts experience, 3+ years of legal practice preferred
