About the Job:
This
role is available as either a full-time or part-time* position for an
Associate Attorney for Civil Defense Litigation Attorneys in Chicago,
Illinois. We offer a flexible work environment with the option for
remote work. However, it's worth noting that most attorneys at our firm
choose to work in the office throughout the week. The Associate Attorney
will defend a wide variety of matters in areas such as tort, insurance
coverage, transportation litigation, and construction.
The
part-time position would entail a lighter load of cases, but you would
still be responsible for handling them from start to finish. This option
is excellent for parents seeking to ease back into the workplace or
senior attorneys thinking about winding down. Please note that due to
potential conflicts of interest, attorneys seeking a part-time position
may not work for other firms at the same time and this is not a
“task-based” position.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Outstanding writing skills;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
- Strategic thinker who can prioritize and integrate short-term and long-term goals;
- Ability to prioritize and meet multiple and competing deadlines;
- Analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Assist with drafting legal documents, including motions and pleadings;
- Assist with the discovery process;
- Participate in settlement negotiations;
- Perform legal research;
- Make court appearances as necessary;
- Conduct and summarize depositions
Education Requirements:
- JD degree from an accredited law school;
- License to practice law in the State of Illinois;
- (Preferred) 2-3 years experience at a law firm or as an in-house counsel.
