This is a key position within the Commercial Group of An American Multinational Corporation. The Commercial Group partners with An American Multinational Corporation's lines of business, customer-facing organizations, and global supply-chain and operations teams, providing strategic, business-minded legal solutions for customer, supplier, distributor, and strategic relationships, operations, regulatory, advertising, marketing programs, commercial privacy, and other critical commercial matters.? Working closely with Legal & Compliance Team colleagues in Corporate, IP, Compliance, Litigation, Employment, and Operations, the group provides seamless legal support for commercial issues globally.

In this role you will work directly with business stakeholders, and closely with legal colleagues, to identify, analyze, propose and implement practical solutions to legal issues across a broad range of matters, with a focus on contractual matters for supply chain and select customer segments, commercial privacy, and regulatory. Additional responsibilities will include engagement with Commercial Group colleagues beyond North America to enable a globally consistent approach to delivery of legal services, and coordination and integration of specialty legal support from the Legal Team's Centers of Excellence.

To succeed you will need to employ not just your legal expertise, but your excellent commercial judgment and acute emotional intelligence. You will also exhibit your flexibility and versatility in identifying and facilitating solutions in import-export, competition/antitrust, and other compliance and operational areas in a complex global business incorporating R&D, manufacturing, software products, SAAS services, direct sales, distribution, and marketing components.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education/bar Membership:
  • J.D. or equivalent, with top academic credentials required
  • Bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Experience:
  • Experience (ideally 2-3+ years) either in private practice or in-house (both preferred), ideally in a multinational context, in an applicable substantive area such as commercial, corporate, or business transactional, with direct client interaction
  • Experience in a matrixed, multinational, public company environment highly valued

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated excellent core legal skills, including commercial/contract structuring, drafting and negotiation
  • Experience with privacy matters in a commercial context, including European GDPR and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
  • Ability to grapple successfully with complexity and to translate complex legal issues into practical guidance for business stakeholders and legal colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability both to collaborate effectively in a team environment, able to build strong collaborative connections and relationships with clients and colleagues across a global organization
  • Ability to work without close oversight, and confidence to know that asking good questions is a strength
  • Excellent organizational skills, including project management
  • Adept communication skills in both one-to-one and group contexts, in contexts ranging from negotiations to operational settings to senior executive briefings
  • Able to confidently apply legal and business judgment in novel, fast-moving situations of significant value and impact
  • Comfort in use of legal operations tools including contract lifecycle management, workflow, e-billing/matter management platforms, and emerging AI tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams
