A Non-Profit Organization is seeking an Attorney (Entry Level)

This position provides high-quality direct legal representation to victims of domestic violence seeking representation in family law matters including applications for protective orders, petitions in suits affecting the parent-child relationship, and petitions for divorce. Additional areas of representation include landlord-tenant and family law enforcement matters.

This position has significant responsibilities as this attorney will independently manage their own caseload and contribute to the overall success of A Non-Profit Organization Legal Department. The attorney's caseload will regularly include high-conflict cases that require emergency legal action for the protection of a client or a client's children.

The specific qualifications for this role are:
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice law in the State of Texas.
  • Ability to read and interpret relevant statutes, rules, case law, and legal texts necessary to represent clients effectively, including the Texas Family Code, the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, and the Texas Rules of Evidence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of professionals.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise, and effective legal documents.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to communicate with referrals and clients in a trauma informed and culturally competent manner.
