General Summary:
The purpose of this job is to serve as legal support for the Circuit Court – Administrative Division. Attends hearings and trials, including bailiff duties in jury trials. Performs routine legal research and writes briefs to be used by the Court in making legal decisions. Manages and tracks complex cases. Conducts status conferences regarding cases.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conducts legal research, evaluations, investigations, and case preparation; stays informed about any current legislation.
  • Drafts briefs, stipulations, responses, and memorandums
  • Reviews pleadings, briefs, jury instructions, and other documents in complex cases
  • Attends court proceedings and serves as bailiff in Circuit Court jury trials.
  • Manages court cases and provides legal support and guidance.
  • Perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris doctor from an accredited law school.
  • 1 to 3 years of related work experience practicing law in government or family law.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.

Required licenses or certifications:
  • Law license.
  • Member of the Michigan State Bar Association.
