Description:
Summary:Provides support for the General Counsel and the organization on a variety of legal matters. Performs job duties consistent with safety, legal and regulatory requirements and the organizations values, standards, culture and business practices.
Responsibilities:
- Provides support and assistance in the development and drafting of Standard Practices and policies.
- Provides legal direction and supervision on organization's strategic initiatives, deals, and projects.
- Provides coaching and mentoring to junior attorneys.
- Negotiates with outside parties on regulatory and legal disputes, including settlements.
- Monitors and manages outside counsel and outside legal budgets.
- Manages, assigns duties, and provides organized and well-defined instruction and direction to the legal staff, including paralegals.
- Manages and advises clinical and business units on a broad spectrum of complex legal issues.
- Independently provides legal advice in diverse matters affecting the day-to-day activities of the organization by assisting, advising, investigating, researching and resolving legal matters.
- Evaluates changes in laws and regulations, communicates those changes to business stakeholders and drafts policy changes, as required.
- Drafts, reviews, and negotiates contracts, in alignment with the organizations strategic objectives.
- Conducts in-house training sessions for medical and other professional staff and employees regarding relevant legal issues.
- Anticipates and mitigates potential legal problems within the organization and develops strategies to avoid litigation and reduce potential areas of risk.
- Strategically leads various legal projects and negotiates workable solutions to complex legal issues.
- Serves as a liaison and cultivates relationships between the Legal Department and executive leadership, management, outside counsel, and governmental/regulatory agencies.
- Serves as a legal representative for the organization in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, trials and other outside legal matters.
- Serves as subject matter expert in various substantive legal areas.
- Serves as advisor to identified executives and business unit leaders.

Accredited Program: Doctor of Jurisprudence (Required)State Bar License (STATE BAR) - State of Florida (FL)
Complexity of Work: Must have: strong academic credentials and verbal/written communication skills; outstanding interpersonal skills with a strong work ethic and high level of integrity and ethics; detail-orientation with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently; the ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action quickly; a skill set that includes the ability to take initiative, manage projects and teams, think critically, and solve problems; substantial experience in preparing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and other complex legal documents.
Required Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an attorney.

- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
Additional Education Info: Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
