Under the direction of a senior attorney, the Associate Counsel will provide legal counsel on a variety of matters for A Not-for-Profit Healthcare Organization, its employees, and its subsidiaries, with a specific focus on real estate and strategic transactions.

This is an exempt, full-time position located in the Front Range of Colorado (Denver Metro area) and will allow the hired candidate to work in a remote capacity with potential travel into the Broomfield, CO office. As the Associate Counsel you will:
  • Support legal matters or projects within a legal team.
  • Work cooperatively and closely with their operational counterparts on legal and regulatory issues.
  • Identify, analyze and resolve legal matters.
  • Read, write, analyze and interpret documents, contracts and instruments.
  • Support legal projects under the direction of a senior attorney.
  • Work directly with operational caregivers within an Intermountain business unit and develop an understanding of the business unit's needs, products and services. Advises business unit on its policies and procedures.
  • Support senior attorneys' evaluation of the legal impact of major decisions where applicable law, regulations, or facts of the matter are unclear, controversial or conflicting.
  • Be able to analyze situations and develop simple, concise, and effective legal solutions, and build a strong partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong writing, legal research and communication skills.
  • Work with and coordinate on matters with outside counsel.
  • Develop, maintain expertise, and actively use contract management software programs and other software applications available to the Legal Department.

Requirements:
  • A Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school is required. Education is verified.
  • License to practice law in a state where Intermountain is located or be willing to obtain such licensure within 12 months of hire date is required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders in an organization (management, senior attorneys, physicians, compliance, hospital administrators, etc.).
  • Experience with real estate transactions is highly preferred
  • Experience with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and other partnerships, highly preferred
