An Utility Contractor, a privately-owned Long Island, New York-based electrical and heavy civil construction company has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Associate General Counsel to join our team. Key Functions:
- Review, draft, and negotiate construction contracts (with customers, subcontractors, and vendors)
- Review and negotiate commercial leases
- Communicate with employees, subcontractors, vendors, and landlords
Desired Qualifications:
- Must have 3-5 years of Construction Law experience (transactional or litigation relating to contract negotiation or preparation/litigation of delay claims)
- Significant prior experience drafting and negotiating commercial leases
- Possess strong interpersonal skills
- Highly skilled legal writing capabilities
- Degree from an ABA – Accredited law school and strong academic credentials
- Licensed to practice law in the State of New York
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter, and able to work independently
- Must be able to work in-person from our office located in Melville, NY on a full-time basis
