Position Summary: Business and Real Estate Litigation Attorneys Estate Planning team is unequaled in Wichita, and is one of a few top tier estate planning practice groups in the region. We regularly work with high net worth individuals on building their estate plans to incorporate wealth shift and asset protection planning. Because many of these individuals are also entrepreneurs, this includes business succession planning. Our clients include more than 40 estates whose net worth exceeds $100 million, and an additional 400 or more clients whose net worth exceeds $10 million. We regularly engage in planning using sophisticated wealth shift techniques including spousal lifetime access trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, and charitable trusts to name a few.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains membership in the Kansas State Bar and completes all required Continuing Legal Education requirements on an annual basis.
  • Follows the ethical requirements as set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the State of Kansas and complies with all requirements of the Firm's professional liability insurer.
  • Performs quality work on a timely basis and provides outstanding client service.
  • Draft a variety of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, and beneficiary designation forms. Ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Stay informed about changes in estate planning laws and regulations. Conduct legal research as needed to support client matters and ensure the provision of up-to-date legal advice.
  • Assist in the administration of trusts and estates, including asset transfers, beneficiary distributions, probate proceedings, and fiduciary duties. Work collaboratively with paralegals and support staff to ensure efficient and accurate administration processes.
  • Advises and communicates regularly with clients regarding the status of their matter.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners to strategize complex estate planning cases, provide input on legal strategies, and contribute to the overall success of the firm.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • 3-5 years' experience preferably in Estate Planning.
  • Knowledge of law and legal practice in order to perform substantive legal function in client matters as normally acquired through completion of a Juris Doctorate Degree.
  • Strong knowledge of estate planning principles, tax laws, and probate procedures.
  • Excellent drafting skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate well, both verbal and written, with a diverse group of clients, attorney's and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
