Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) located in the Criminal Division of the Northern District of Oklahoma will be responsible for prosecuting a variety of violations of federal laws such mail and wire fraud schemes, criminal healthcare fraud, Ponzi and pyramid schemes, shareholder and other investment schemes, elder fraud, federal benefits fraud, public corruption, environmental crime, and other white collar crimes.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

  • Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which they are appointed or within 25 miles thereof. See 28 U.S.C. 545 for district-specific information.
  • Security Requirement: The initial appointment is conditional upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. Requirements include fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing; continued employment is based on a favorable adjudication.
  • Selective Service: If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, you must certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System, or are exempt from having to do so under the Selective Service Law. See www.sss.gov.
  • Occasional travel: In the District, the state of Oklahoma, and throughout the nation is likely to be necessary. Travel requirements typically entail no more than 1-5 days per month.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 3 years post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience.

You must be a United States Citizen or National.

Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a highly demanding environment. Successful applicants should have a working knowledge of the major federal fraud statutes, and must exhibit superior research and writing skills, including spotting issues, developing arguments, and presenting rebuttal points. Applicants must be comfortable processing, utilizing and comprehending large electronically stored discovery records. Successful applicants must demonstrate an ability to make critical decisions to successfully position the United States for an optimum outcome in litigation. Applicants exhibit strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a supportive and professional matter with the court, opposing counsel and client agencies. Applicants must have a well-developed attention to detail and accuracy in order to present issues, arguments, and evidence with a high degree of professionalism.

Successful candidates should also possess computer literacy skills to include experience in automated research, electronic court filing, electronic e-mail, and word processing systems and software.
