Job Duties:
This individual will analyze, investigate, and prosecute suspected violations of the Virginia Consumer Protection Act, the Virginia Solicitation of Contributions law, and other state and federal consumer protection statutes. In addition, the individual will have secondary responsibility for analyzing, investigating, and prosecuting violations of state and federal consumer lending statutes and antitrust laws as needed. Must have excellent writing skills and be prepared to appear in the appropriate state or federal court in actions filed against alleged violators. Will also provide legal advice to the Office of Charitable and Regulatory Programs, assist in drafting official opinions, review proposed legislation, and work with counterparts in other states and federal agencies.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and manage complex enforcement cases; well-developed oral and written communication skills; and the ability to interact effectively with state/federal government officials, a diverse workforce, and the general public.
  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of litigation experience in state and federal courts, concentrating on consumer protection or charitable solicitation matters.
  • Must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar.
