Responsibilities
  • As a Tax Advocacy and Controversy Services Intern you will have the opportunity to:
  • Research and draft technical memoranda to support tax return reporting positions, responses to IRS Information Document Requests and Notices of Proposed Adjustments, Protests of Proposed Examination Changes, Private Letter Ruling requests, and penalty abatement requests
  • Assist with client representation at IRS Examination, Appeals, and Collections
  • Preparation of Income Tax Returns and Information Reports
  • Draft internal correspondence on topical tax law issues
  • Negotiate voluntary disclosures for delinquent unclaimed property reports and tax returns
  • Conduct due diligence to identify tax exposure for various transactions

Qualifications
Desired Skills & Experience

Successful candidates will:
  • Be enrolled in a full-time JD or LLM program during the 2019/2020 academic year 3L or LLM in Taxation candidate preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in finance or accounting preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking and decision making skills
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for finding creative and efficient solutions to analytical problems
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
