Role Overview: The Portland office of A Law Firm that Providing Corporate and Litigation Services is seeking an associate attorney with 2-4 years of experience to join its Corporate Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have law firm experience representing clients in mergers and acquisitions; debt financing; general commercial transactions; corporate formation and governance matters and other business transactions, with preference given to candidates with prior business or legal experience serving clients in the timberlands, forest products, and/or agribusiness industries. However, many of our colleagues did not start their career as a “timber associate” or “agribusiness associate” and diverse perspectives and experiences are valued. You are encouraged to apply if you have interest in these industries, even if you don’t think you have deep experience in all of the matters typically associated with this role.
Members of our team can expect to benefit from working with clients on mid-market and larger transactions. Attorneys in this role often interface with colleagues across offices and practice groups and spend time on telephone and video calls with our clients. The associate in this role will independently produce client-ready documents and will work in teams with others on complex transactions.

Already have, or are willing to develop, “blended” corporate and real estate expertise;
Ability to organize and understand large volumes of contracts and other data;
Comfort coordinating and working with service providers including investment bankers, title insurance companies and escrow agents, environmental consultants and similar transaction support specialists;
Enjoy the challenge of negotiating and documenting complex transactions;
Strong intellectual curiosity and desire to understand how a project serves clients goals;
A commitment to client service and team success;
Ability to communicate business goals into contract language; and
