General Summary
The student intern will assist the General Counsel’s Office (GCO) attorneys with a variety of tasks associated with their practices including involvement with all aspects of our litigation practice, procurement issues, employment issues, environmental issues and any other legal assignments as required.

Essential Functions
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda, correspondence, pleadings, and interrogatories (as well as other discovery requests)
  • Prepare and file legal pleadings in Maryland courts and administrative forums
  • Attend legal proceedings, depositions and client meetings with GCO attorneys

Other Functions

  • Assist with compiling case materials by collecting, organizing, and summarizing information, documents, reports and evidence
  • Assist GCO attorneys with preparing trial briefs, exhibits, subpoenas, evidence and motions in preparation for trials
  • Maintain the confidential nature of client communications
  • Update job knowledge by participating in continuing educational opportunities, reading legal publications, and maintaining personal networks

Work Environment And Physical Demands

  • Business casual office environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to perform computerized legal research using WestlawNext®
  • Ability to produce high quality work product in a timely manner
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to keep all matters in the strictest of confidence

Minimum Education, Experience Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree
  • Must have completed 1+ years of law school

Additional Requirements

  • Must have reliable means to travel to work other local destinations

  • Completion of 2+ years of law school
  • Legal research experience

  • Commensurate with education and experience
