Description:
This position will have a dual role, providing commercial legal support to the North American region and working on Legal Operations related activities worldwide. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial transactions with an emphasis on complex technology transactions. The ideal candidate will also have experience defining and developing legal and contracting processes and policies for multinational companies. This position will report to the Deputy General Counsel.

Key Responsibilities:
Senior Corporate Counsel
  • Support Genesys sales growth in North America by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of agreements with a primary focus on cloud services and SaaS, technology partner agreements, software license and support agreements, and professional services agreements.
  • Provide commercial and general legal advice to the business, including providing advice to internal stakeholders in connection with company processes and procedures.
  • Review and negotiates contracts with suppliers.

Global Legal Operations
  • Develop and execute on the Legal Department’s short- and long-term strategic roadmap, translate Departmental goals and priorities into strategic plans, partner with members of the Department to drive, track and report progress and generate consensus from multiple stakeholders where needed.
  • Lead development, refinement and promotion of the Legal Department’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Develop effective metrics and KPIs for the Legal Department to help track, measure, and improve performance of key processes and procedures.
  • Develop and manage cadence of after-action and quarterly departmental reviews, as well as strategic quarterly objectives for Legal Operations function enhancement.
  • Regularly contribute to and refine Genesys’ templates, playbooks, and guidance documents. Support Department-wide efforts to organize, manage, and archive contracts and agreement templates.
  • Discover ways to streamline how the Legal Department functions, through the continuous assessment of our processes and technology.
  • Assist in developing and implementing improvements to business processes to support the contracting process and ongoing compliance.
  • Participate in special projects within the Legal Department to develop, implement and enhance processes and policies that improve transaction velocity, efficiency and standardization without material increase in risk.
  • Provide Legal Department training on all forms of technology introduced to the team.

Requirements:
  • Law Degree from an accredited law school in the United States.
  • 3-5 years of commercial contracts experience with a high-tech company. Experience with Legal Operations (preferred).
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and contract drafting skills.
  • Strong substantive knowledge of intellectual property laws.
  • Consistent good judgment and ability to apply legal knowledge to help create practical business solutions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision, and provide practical advice to clients.
  • Ability to manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in managing a volume of large and/or strategic agreements and suite of agreement templates through collaboration tools.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changes and deadlines.
  • A self-starter who operates well in a fast-paced environment that places a strong premium on integrity, excellence, execution, and teamwork.
