Our Senior Staff Attorney will litigate cases in Nevada, primarily in Las Vegas with some travel to Reno and Carson City. The selected individual will be required to work in Las Vegas, NV, and will work closely with our claim centers and insureds to deliver the best possible result in pending litigation. Our ideal candidate will be part of a unique team responsible for providing top quality representation of The Hartford for litigated matters involving Auto, General Liability and Construction Defect claims. These cases will be handled from inception thru trial resolution. The Senior Staff Attorney will handle the following key responsibilities:
  • Analyze complex legal factual issues while conducting extensive and well-reasoned legal research
  • Independently develop and aggressively present defense strategies on behalf of clients for auto, general liability, and construction defect cases from inception through trial
  • Prepare pleadings, written discovery, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies
  • Provide effective and timely information, legal advice and other services
  • Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel with professional diplomacy and discretion
  • Research, draft, file and argue appellate briefs in reviewing courts on behalf of clients
  • Participate in claims file reviews
  • Promptly, efficiently and effectively disposition assigned cases
  • Independently conduct trials, depositions, arbitrations and mediations
  • Attend continuing legal education seminars in order to maintain a high level of professional expertise

  • Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school and a license to practice in the state of Nevada is required
  • Minimum of 10 years of legal practice with demonstrable verdict experience within insurance defense
  • First chair jury trial experience is required
  • Legal research and motion practice expertise
  • Positive-minded and collaborative team-player attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Lexis Nexis experience is a plus!
  • Self-directed aptitude with excellent organizational and prioritization skills
