Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our team and play a key role in supporting the global Security and Resiliency Organization (SRO). The SRO is growing and evolving at an incredible pace and requires expert counsel to help navigate the constantly changing landscape of regulatory, litigation, brand, operational, and other risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to the cybersecurity incident response team (CSIRT) and Dell business partner during security incidents and data breach investigations and responses
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to SRO management and team members for the development of cybersecurity-related policies, procedures, protocols, assessments, and reporting requirements; review and provide guidance on Dell’s cybersecurity practices, including adoption of applicable controls and industry certifications
  • Review customer information security schedules and provide guidance for contract negotiations
  • Contribute to the ongoing creation and update of legal templates and playbooks associated with cybersecurity
  • Provide legal awareness and compliance training to legal colleagues and business clients on cybersecurity matters, including incident response
  • Perform legal research on emerging cybersecurity issues impacting SRO and Dell
  • Partner with global subject matter experts to assist with research and compliance efforts to ensure effective compliance programs
  • Contribute with a positive attitude within the SRO Legal team and the Dell Legal department; participation is encouraged in department initiatives, events and community-based goals

Essential Requirements:
  • JD and admission to practice law in the United States
  • 3+ years relevant law firm and/or in-house experience in cybersecurity incident response, and familiarity with directing forensics investigations
  • Hands-on expertise and knowledge of cybersecurity regulations and industry frameworks (e.g. GLBA, HIPAA, NYDFS, PCI-DSS, GDPR, CCPA, et al)
  • Experience with counseling clients on cybersecurity and IT compliance, risk management, and cybersecurity audits
  • Strong investigative, analytical, written and oral communication skills
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability, ability to make decisions efficiently and quickly

Desired Requirements:
  • Experience with emerging global cybersecurity and data privacy laws and regulatory frameworks and associated compliance regimes
  • Experience with supporting cybersecurity breach litigation
  • Experience negotiating security controls and requirements
  • Understands IT and cybersecurity technical concepts and methodologies and has ability to communicate and discuss technical concepts
  • Legal project management experience is helpful
