Job Purpose: What does a great Senior Counsel do? This lawyer will support the Payment Risk Solutions business unit within the Global Business Solutions division of Fiserv with an emphasis on drafting and negotiating agreements with merchant clients, referral partners and vendors, in addition to supporting emerging businesses within the business unit, such as online gaming. This lawyer will also provide legal support to multiple products in the ACH, TeleCheck, data solutions and credit areas. This Senior Counsel will provide advice on laws and rules (including those related to consumer rights and privacy) that impact the transaction processing businesses. This lawyer will provide prompt guidance and support to senior business and sales executives.
As a Senior Counsel, you can look forward to:
Working directly with business unit representatives to prepare and negotiate client, vendor and other technology-related and commercial agreements.
Advising business partners on legal, contractual and risk matters impacting their business unit or product set.
Partnering with product teams to commercialize new products and functionality.
Providing consultation and legal advice with respect to strategic initiatives, technology projects, customer and vendor contracts, intellectual property, dispute resolution, regulatory matters, corporate policies and procedures, and administration.
Effectively interacting with corporate specialists regarding finance, audit, tax, IT, publicity/press, regulatory, privacy and technology matters that affect the business divisions.
Maintaining knowledge of industry best practices and applicable legislation affecting the operations of the Payment Risk Solutions business unit.
Developing and maintaining forms of contracts and other legal documentation.
Basic qualifications for consideration:
JD from accredited law school
Licensed to practice, or ability to become licensed as in-house counsel to practice, in Florida
In good standing with State Bar with no disciplinary record
5+ years of relevant experience as a transactional lawyer
Preferred qualifications for consideration:
Experience interacting with senior management
Experience addressing and advising on regulations
Technical contract experience
Exposure to financial services and technology contracts
