The Impact You’ll Make
  • Lead risk mitigation efforts and implementation of compliance controls, coordinating with other stakeholders
  • Conduct diagnostics as needed to determine the state of compliance in the company
  • Prepare compliance policies, processes and procedures and conduct related trainings
  • Monitor, report results and advise on business risks and effectiveness of compliance efforts
  • Collaborate with colleagues to assess and advise whether policies and procedures address execution risks and provide appropriate controls
  • Analyze contract provisions to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and company policies and procedures as well as an acceptable level of risk tolerance
  • Draft compliance and privacy-related language for contract templates; assist in contract negotiations and advise on specific contractual risks as needed
  • Provide other compliance and legal support based on the company’s needs

The Team You’ll Join
  • You will be joining a dynamic and growing team of 4 attorneys and 3 other legal professionals.
  • The legal group is based primarily in Utah and California, but also includes and is open to remote work
  • You will have an important role in the strategic planning and implementation of compliance processes and procedures across all departments, with support from the whole legal team

The Experience You’ll Need
  • JD degree from a well-respected, accredited law school with membership in good standing in a state bar and the ability to practice law in-house in Utah or California
  • At least 10 years of combined legal and compliance experience, both in-house at a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company or academic institution, and at a reputable law firm
  • At least 5 years of experience developing various elements of a biopharma R&D compliance program, including policies, training, monitoring, auditing, and investigations
  • Attention to detail, with excellent communication, analytical and project management abilities
  • Accountable, dependable and self-motivated for continuous improvement of company templates, policies and processes
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, early-stage company environment, with the ability to work independently and apply good business and legal judgement in assessing compliance issues
  • Experience with FCPA and other anti-corruption/anti-bribery laws and GDPR, CCPA and other privacy laws. Understanding of GXP compliance is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of ethics and integrity
  • Team player who can clearly communicate complex issues, observations and resolutions to stakeholders at all levels, with highly developed decision-making and consensus-building skills
