Amazon is looking for a Corporate Counsel for Security and External Fraud to steer and support Amazon’s information security policies and practices across all of the company’s business lines in the United States and internationally. This person will also assist in filing litigation and pursuing law enforcement referrals against individuals who have committed fraud against Amazon or its customers.
The position will report to the Associate General Counsel for Fraud and Security.
Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities will include working closely with business leaders, legal professionals, and our public policy team to advise on all aspects of global data security laws and regulations, including data security and data breach rules. You’ll help chart long term strategy for protecting customer information across the company. And you’ll work closely with our public policy and public relations teams to help explain Amazon’s customer-centric policies and practices to regulators and law enforcement officials around the world. You will also work with business leaders and law enforcement to pursue legal action against third parties who attempt to harm Amazon or its customers.
10+ years of data security or related regulatory and litigation experience with law firms, corporations, and/or government agencies
Juris Doctor (JD) and membership in good standing in at least one state bar is required
Ability to travel and work extended hours when necessary
Thorough understanding of Internet architecture and related technologies
Ability to manage a large number and variety of mission-critical projects, working independently and often in ambiguous environments
Sound and practical business judgment as well as common sense
Team player who can effectively work with and manage paralegals, assistants, other lawyers, and business clients cooperatively and efficiently
Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated proficiency in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization
Hands-on experience interacting directly with law enforcement personnel or data protection regulators
