Self Financial is seeking an experienced financial services regulatory lawyer to join its rapidly growing team. Reporting to the General Counsel and working closely with the compliance team, the Regulatory Counsel will be the second lawyer to join the team, responsible for legal and regulatory matters related to the company’s consumer credit products, including product development, marketing, liaison with the company’s issuing banks, and interaction with regulators. The ideal candidate will have several years of industry experience in a corporate law department, regulatory agency, or law firm, experience with at least some aspects of the regulation of closed and open-end consumer credit products, a willingness to tackle issues in other areas as needed, and an ability to advocate for the highest standards of compliance while also focusing on creative solutions to serve consumers and achieve business objectives. The company is based in Austin, Texas; remote work arrangements will be considered for this position.What you’ll have:
- JD degree and law license in good standing
- Minimum 6 years of practice in-house, in government or in private practice
- Experience with the law and regulation governing consumer credit products, ideally including credit cards.
