Description:
We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated commercial and real estate attorney to join the legal team at one of the largest cloud computing companies in the world to support our global cloud expansion.

Microsoft’s datacenter organization – Microsoft Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) –is leading the company’s investments in infrastructure to meet customer demand for Microsoft cloud services. Both CO+I, and the legal team supporting it, are growing to help drive these investments for the company. This is a unique opportunity for an attorney to help build the hyperscale infrastructure for Microsoft’s rapidly expanding global cloud.

Responsibilities:
  • The main responsibilities for this role will include:
  • Drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements in support of cloud and datacenter infrastructure, including acquisitions, leases, service agreements, and related transactions
  • Creating new contract models, templates, and process improvements to improve quality and reduce contract cycle time for datacenter infrastructure agreements
  • Providing creative and proactive counseling on a broad range of legal and policy issues in support of datacenter investments, which may include: real estate investment regulations; government incentives; land use; and dispute resolution
  • Collaborating with team members within and across organizational boundaries, including: clients; other Microsoft attorneys; and government affairs, community affairs, and PR professionals
  • Developing strong, trusted advisor relationships with business clients and executives

Qualifications:
  • We are looking for an experienced transactional attorney who meets the following requirements:
  • J.D. (or equivalent ) and license to practice law in the U.S.
  • 5+ years as a practicing commercial attorney, ideally with top law firm or in-house experience
  • Outstanding academic credentials, excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Background in real estate and other complex commercial transactions, ideally with experience in co-location agreements and leases, real estate purchase and development, international transactions; and dispute resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a high volume of complex deals as lead attorney
