  • Conduct a wide variety of legal, business and technology research in support of Via’s program development and licensing efforts
  • Provide day to day legal and business support (e.g. contract and NDA review, drafting, revision)
  • Assist with IP enforcement, litigation, and compliance matters
  • Develop relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners regarding global patent licensing efforts
  • Develop, improve, and update patent licensing collateral, including claim charts under Legal department direction
  • Advise on the acquisition, development and commercialization of third party technologies

Desired Skills and Experience
  • Concentration in Patent Law or Intellectual Property Law preferred (but not a requirement)
  • Previous legal internship and/or business ­related work experience a plus, particularly in contract, patent, licensing and/or litigation work
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple complex projects in a fast­ paced environment
  • Positive and professional attitude, including dependability, timeliness
  • Ability to research legal and business issues and learn new concepts quickly
  • Experience with online research tools, as well as Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis, and Bloomberg
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Microsoft Excel and Power Point applications
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in global organization
  • Superior organization and project management skills

Additionally Desired or Helpful but Not Required Qualifications
  • Experience with standards bodies, global licensing, patent pools and/or antitrust matters

  • Pursuing a graduate degree (JD or LLM) at an accredited law school with a strong academic record; Recent grads who are within 6 months of graduation are also eligible to apply
  • 2L or above
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Flexible schedule OK, but should be available to work 20-25 hours Monday-Thursday for 3 months between January 2020 – June 2020
