Description:
Position Summary Statement:
  • Working with the Senior Manager, Director, and VP of Privacy, the Manager, WW Privacy Counsel will receive on the job training, focusing on conducting in-house privacy counseling and supporting business teams on the most relevant data privacy regulatory issues for the US, Canada, APAC, Mexico and South and Central American regions.
  • As a member of the Privacy team, you will work with local internal and external counsel within the regions and handle local privacy issues as well as develop robust policies, and procedures to protect the business in this evolving landscape. You will also help manage compliance within the global privacy & cybersecurity program, managing annual audits and providing regular reporting.

Detailed Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Conducting privacy impact assessment and building privacy by design into products and initiatives
  • Drafting and interpreting privacy policies and notices governing employee, member and customer data
  • Advise business regarding data collection, use and management in compliance with applicable policies, legal requirements and industry best practices
  • Assisting in the management of data subject requests on a global basis
  • Synergizing with cybersecurity on data loss prevention and other data protection initiatives
  • Managing privacy compliance for external digital platforms and applications including websites, social media activities, and mobile apps
  • Manage privacy compliance for communications activities including email, and text messaging
  • Negotiating and drafting privacy and security provisions for contracts involving processing of personal data
  • Assist with legal analysis and response for data security events
  • Develop training materials and providing training to employees (and same for Member where appropriate)
  • This position reports directly to the Sr. Manager, Privacy Counsel with a dotted line to the Director, WW Privacy Counsel.

Required Qualifications:
Skills:

  • Ability to research, interpret, analyze and apply complex legal and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to prepare and maintain policy and procedure documentation
  • Ability to understand technology driven projects and complex data flows
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, and work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic and quality and results orientation
  • Ability to adapt as the external environment and organization evolves
  • Strong transactional skills and experience working with internal and external-facing technology platforms
  • Effective project manager with good communications skills

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience as an attorney
  • Strong interest in Privacy Law

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Member of California bar or other U.S. state bar

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong academic record from law school
  • CIPP certification or extensive knowledge of U.S. privacy laws, (including TCPA, CAN-SPAM, HIPAA, GLBA, COPPA, State Breach Notification, and Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices)
