Description:
We are seeking an outstanding Litigation Counsel to join our legal team in Pleasanton, CA. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, Litigation, Cybersecurity, Compliance and Investigations, and working closely with our litigation team and our domestic and international team, we seek a confident self-starter who can prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities and who enjoys working in a fast-paced and high-energy environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic guidance and counseling to a range of teams and stakeholders across Workday in matters relating to litigation, cybersecurity, investigations and dispute resolution
  • With direction from the the team, manage and drive Workday’s commercial and intellectual property litigation cases from complaint to conclusion, collaborating with internal and outside counsel, specific subject matter experts, and stakeholders
  • Provide advice and sometimes lead response to cybersecurity incidents
  • Provide pragmatic, trusted advice to business stakeholders on litigation risk and mitigation opportunities
  • Handle pre-litigation disputes and devise creative resolution strategies
  • Investigate and evaluate third-party claims
  • Advise on complex intellectual property, litigation, and dispute resolution issues in commercial transactions, licensing, and M&A
  • Support internal investigations and provide legal advice and recommendations on risk and remedial actions
  • Lead and support special projects as needed

Required Skills & Experience:
  • J.D. Degree and membership in at least 1 state bar in good standing
  • 6+ years of litigation experience at a national law firm
  • In-house experience is a plus
  • Cybersecurity experience is a plus
  • Experience leading litigation tasks, discovery management/collection, and working effectively with other attorneys and paralegals
  • Experience with SaaS, web technologies, cloud technologies/platforms and/or the mobile space
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and work independently
  • Strong attention to detail
