Small Walnut Creek law firm with a focus on business and commercial real estate litigation, is seeking to hire a talented litigation associate on a part time or full time basis.

We are seeking an attorney with the following qualities and qualifications:
  • Possess 2+ years' litigation experience (business and commercial real estate litigation experience preferred, but accomplished non-specialized civil litigation experience will be considered), including both California state civil litigation as well as Federal civil litigation (Federal creditor-related bankruptcy experience is also desirable);
  • Accomplished employment history and experience;
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Superior writing, drafting, and oral advocacy skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Results oriented, self-starter, with a high level of initiative;
  • Efficiency and understanding of value to clients;
  • Ability to work independently, shift focus, adapt to changing priorities, maintain patience and deliver excellent results in high pressure situations with often inflexible deadlines;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Evaluating new cases for technical and legal issues and developing effective and efficient strategy for handling the case;
  • Developing and retaining a full and complete knowledge and understand all the facts and legal issues in each case assigned;
  • Ability to review, summarize, highlight, analyze, and evaluate evidence;
  • Research any legal facts or issues required for an efficient and effective handling of a case;
  • Conduct all phases of civil discovery, including creating effective discovery plans, drafting written discovery, conducting meet and confers, evaluating discovery responses, and preparing for and conducting depositions;
  • Draft briefs, memoranda, and other legal documents;
  • Prepare for and handle hearings and depositions (trial experience is preferred but not required);
  • Identify, select, and prepare expert witnesses as well as critically deconstruct opposing experts.
  • Extremely strong candidates with proven track record of self-sufficient success in handling litigation cases requesting contract employment will be considered.
